Delta Aquariid meteor shower will light up the night sky
Summer nights are shorter but a great time to check out meteor showers, and the Delta Aquariid shower peaks Sunday night. Though it's a fairly average meteor shower, you can still see up to 20 meteors per hour. The best time to look up will be between midnight and just before dawn; gaze toward the southern sky for the best viewing. This event is just a warm-up for one of the main meteor showers of the year: the Perseids, coming in mid-August, with 50 or more meteors per hour.
Family of man who died in 'freak' accident say final goodbyes
A North Carolina husband and father of six children who died in a "freak" beach accident will be laid to rest Saturday, his wife announced on Twitter. Lee Dingle, who died after a "powerful" wave at a North Carolina beach slammed him to the ground and broke his neck, was described by those who knew him as a generous man and a caring father. And he was also a registered organ and tissue donor. Carolina Donor Services spokesman Chuck Heald told USA TODAY that Dingle's "gift of life" will "help save and heal up to 75 people" adding: "He'll be seen by so many people as a hero because he was a registered donor." Services will be held at Raleigh’s Edenton Street United Methodist Church, where the family attends, according to The News & Observer.

The world’s most famous cycling competition, the grueling three-week-long Tour de France, comes to a close Sunday as the riders finish their journey on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. There is still racing left to do, with a final Alpine mountain stage on Saturday that will determine the race's overall winner. Then on Sunday, the peloton will undergo the leisurely procession into Paris, which only the sprinters will contest vigorously.
Time to take another bite out of Shark Week!
Yes, that wonderful week of summer returns on Discovery Sunday with a lineup of new shows all about sharks, including the theme week's first original movie. "Capsized: Blood in the Water," based on a true story, stars Josh Duhamel as the captain of a yacht that capsizes in a Florida storm as its crew is chased by sharks. If that doesn't rock your television boat, comedian Rob Riggle talked several friends into joining him for a shark-filled trip in "Shark Trip: Eat. Prey. Chum" in which Riggle, Damon Wayans Jr. ("New Girl") and Anthony Anderson ("Black-ish") get into a "human bait box" while sharks swim around them... yikes! With more than 20 hours of programming throughout the week, Shark Week runs through Sunday, Aug. 4.
WNBA's biggest stars head to Vegas
The WNBA’s biggest stars will be on display in the All-Star Game on Saturday night in Las Vegas. This year, WNBA standouts Elena Delle Donne and A’ja Wilson served as team captains, each picking their squad for the high-profile exhibition game. Delle Donne selected Brittney Griner with her first pick, while Wilson chose Chelsea Gray first for her team. With the game being played in the famous party city, Delle Donne told the Associated Press her plan was simple. "Who's not going to party the hardest is who's going to win this game," she said. "If you have partiers on your side, you're done."
